Hazera Genetics Awarded the Gold Mark by the Standards Institution
19-Oct-2009

Hazera Genetics, Israel’s largest seeds company was awarded the Gold Mark by the Standards Institution of Israel. This mark is awarded to a company after it is certified by the Standards Institution of Israel as compliant with the ISO 14001 safety standard and OHSAS 18001 Environmental Management standard. Both these standards join the company’s 10 years of ISO 9001 standard certification, as well as standard ISO 17025 certification of quality control laboratories.

Hazera Genetics received safety standard certification due to its meticulous implementation of safety and hygiene requirement, while improving the work environment and making it both safer and healthier. Careful implementation includes, among other aspects, conducting a risk survey in all three company sites, appointing a Safety Committees for every site and comprehensive preparations for emergencies.

The Environmental Management standard was awarded to Hazera Genetics due to the extraordinary mobilization of the company’s employees, headed by a special steering team, to complete the actions required in order to comply with standard requirements. Company employees act so as to protect and safeguard the environment, recycle waste, monitor use of environmental resources and minimize the damage caused to the environment as a result of ongoing work and operations.

According to Rachel Eviatar, Hazera Genetic’s Quality Manager: “The actions undertaken towards receipt of the standard certification, as a result of which we were awarded the Gold Mark, stem from Hazera Genetic’s quality policy, and not necessarily from customer demands. They are an integral part of the company’s strategy since its establishment 70 years ago, and are implemented on a voluntary basis due to our concern for customer, owners, workers, suppliers, the community and the environment. This is our commitment as a global company and leading player in the Israeli agricultural sector”.
