Hazera Genetics Launches a New Onion Variety that is Resistant to Pink Root

Hazera Genetics, Israel’s largest seeds company is launching a new and unique onion variety that is resistant to Pink Root – the Saturn Onion.

Hazera Genetics’ researchers worked for five year to develop the Storn onion. In addition to its resistance to Pink Root, the Saturn onion is renowned as a high-quality and high-yield variety. The variety, of the Grano type for short-day sowing, has a dark yellow skin color and medium maturity. The Saturn onion was successfully tested for sowing from mid-November to the end of December.

Pink Root disease spreads throughout entire fields. The disease is common and known throughout the world, and Hazera Genetics anticipates high global demand among farmers and growers for this onion variety.
