Hazera Genetics exhibited, at the Southern Agricultural R&D exhibition, held in the Besor region on the 24th of February 2010, Antonella – a new cluster tomato variety. These are cluster tomatoes with long shelf life, firmness, deep red color and high yield. The fact that these tomatoes are firmer than tomatoes currently available in the market is a significant advantage providing growers with security, since a grower can postpone the picking date at his discretion. For example – if the price of tomatoes is very low, the grower can delay the picking date until their prices rise, or can postpone picking due to constraints such as shortage of manpower, etc. Another attribute of Antonella tomatoes is their ability to grow in hot and dry climates. This is an important attribute for Israeli growers, who face harsh heat conditions that are known to be a difficulty faced when growing tomatoes. Yaki Yestrov, the Southern region Sales Manager, said: “We are continuing to develop and offer attractive and efficient solutions to growers, solutions that will fulfill market needs. Antonella has already aroused great interest among growers throughout the world, since Hazera Genetics is a world leader in the marketing tomato seeds.”
